The Harmony Delegation hosts youth workshops twice each year. A video of our Spring youth workshop chorus was featured on the Barbershop Harmony Society web site.
The Harmony Delegation provides lifetime singing and learning opportunities to our community, bringing men together in harmony and fellowship to enrich lives through singing. Since 2008, the Harmony Delegation has collaborated with area schools to promote singing as a life-time activity and to encourage young men to sing and participate in vocal music programs. During that time, it has served over 1200 young men from area high schools at half day Festival Workshops featuring nationally recognized coaches, directors and quartets. Singers from Valley, Valley Southwoods, North, East, Hoover, Lincoln, Saydel, Nevada, Marshalltown, Southeast Polk, Waukee High Schools and Callanan middle school have participated in these workshops. The Festivals thrive thanks to a committed group of hosts, and a range of funding sources that includes support from Bravo Greater Des Moines Cultural Enrichment Grant, Polk County Community Betterment Grant, West Bancorporation Foundation, Ahlers & Cooney, P.C., Grand View University, the West Des Moines Community School District, and individual member gifts through the Barbershop Harmony Society Harmony Foundation International Donor’s Choice Program.
