GW passed on early this afternoon. May God speed him on his journey.
GW Lewallen, Senior GOLD MEDAL Quartet winner (1998), director of both men and women barbershop choruses, quartet coach, EmCee extraordinaire, painter of innumerable banners for quartets and choruses throughout the society, the Heart, Soul and VOICE of the Jurassic Larks and all around great barbershopper is in his last mortal hours (under the able care of Hospice) at his home in West DM.
Members of our home chapter, the Pride of Iowa Barbershop Chorus, the Larks are a true inspiration to us and to the Harmony Central Chorus of Des Moines. We know that they touched many a life throughout the BHS and the SAI. GW's voice is still on my home voicemail with words of encouragement for our quartet. Our thoughts and prayers are with GW, Marilynn, and the Lark family that surrounds them.
