Pride of Iowa Chorus "Youth in Harmony" Program Support Fund

Please consider donating to the Pride of Iowa Chorus "Youth in Harmony" support fund.  2018 is our tenth year in a row where we serve young men of middle school and high school age in their pursuit of singing and making wonderful harmony. We are proud to have served hundreds of young men over those years. Your tax deductible donation will help us continue this worthwhile program into the future. Below is a brief history of our program.

A brief history of our program:

2007-2009, the Pride of Iowa Chorus sponsored Harmony Nights at Johnston, Lincoln and Norwalk High Schools.  In April 2009 the Pride of Iowa Barbershop Chorus held its first Young Men in Harmony workshop at Valley High School.  55 Valley and Valley Southwoods singers participated in an afternoon workshop and evening show. Darin Drown and Storm Front quartet led the workshop.  Pride of Iowa men and Storm Front Quartet members served as section leaders for the festival chorus and performed on the evening show.

Storm Front conceived its signature Lida Rose/Dream of Now arrangement while in Des Moines for the Youth in Harmony festival and Pride of Iowa spring show.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWCNiIikbFw

In the years following, the Pride of Iowa sponsored Harmony Explosion Festival clinics and shows at Johnston High School, Lincoln High School, Des Moines Area Community College, Valley Southwoods Freshman High School, and Valley High School. Many Des Moines and central Iowa area schools have participated. Valley High School has hosted seven of the festivals including the September 29, 2018 Tenth anniversary celebration.  Guest quartets have included international barbershop champion quartets Storm Front, Ringmasters and Saturday Evening Post, and Central States and Pioneer District champion quartets.
